Simon King

Simon King is a principal researcher at School-to-School (STS) International. King serves various roles, including statistician, psychometrician, evaluator and principal investigator. He supports the evaluation and research team as well as the business development team in ensuring the highest quality in STS’s work with clients and partners.

Prior to coming to STS, King worked with RTI International for more than a decade. He has conducted capacity development activities in numerous countries, including Nepal, Zambia and Cambodia, supporting local ministries in conducting national learning assessments. He has led numerous impact evaluation studies, including USAID Early Grade Reading Programs and the XPRIZE Foundation.

King is particularly experienced with explanatory mixed-method approaches, specializing in using a behavioral science lens to better understand how education systems function.

King is a former teacher who has worked in England, Switzerland and the USA. He has also worked as a volunteer teacher for VSO in Zambia. Additionally, King was a charter school principal in North Carolina. He applies his prior experience as an educator and school administrator to ensure that all his evaluation and research work is grounded in the reality and challenges of teaching and learning.

King holds a master’s degree in statistics from Texas A&M University. He is currently studying for his doctorate in education at the Institute of Education, University College London.
